Dear Excellencies and colleagues,

It is indeed an honour and a privilege to welcome all prospective delegates, speakers, guests and sponsors to our 30th Annual FIDIC Africa

Infrastructure Conference being hosted by the Association of Consulting Engineers of Tanzania in Dar Es Salaam from the 26th to 29th May 2024. 

As has been the standard for past FIDIC Africa Infrastructure Conferences, this year’s event will no doubt, once again leave you energized and motivated to continue to contribute to the ongoing efforts to achieve the high levels of success we need in addressing the infrastructure challenges we continue to face on this our beloved continent. Addressing challenges calls for innovative solutions that will ensure sustainability in the development.

Sustainable development can be realized through catering for the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This will only be possible through adoption of innovative infrastructure at all stages of design, build, operate, and maintain infrastructure systems that are more resilient, efficient, and sustainable. It is thus obvious that innovative infrastructure and sustainable development are intertwined as they both aim to improve the quality of life and well-being of people and the planet. This year’s discussion promises to bode well with one of the SDG Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; which aims at building resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation.

Engineering is the key to bring about much needed positive development changes in various sectors requiring Engineers to focus their efforts on technological innovations that will provide innovative and sustainable solutions for enhancing public service delivery and citizen participation through infrastructure development.

This gathering shall provide an opportunity for stakeholders to share knowledge and explore possibilities for collaboration on solving challenges through innovations as we collectively chart the course for the future of engineering and infrastructure in our vibrant continent and the world at large.
