Association of Consulting Engineers Tanzania

ACET is a voluntary non-profit organization founded in 1985 to promote the practice of consulting engineering in Tanzania. Committed to professional ethical principles and business integrity, ACET represents Consulting Engineers operating in Tanzania. It actively promotes the interests of its members, acts as a conduit for disseminating relevant information between industry associates and clients, and fosters collaboration within the engineering community. ACET is affiliated with FIDIC Africa and has been a member of FIDIC since 1986.

Background of FAIC24

FAIC24 is organized by FIDIC Africa and hosted by the Association of Consulting Engineers Tanzania (ACET), is set to unfold from May 26th to May 29th, 2024, at Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Marking its 30th edition, It focuses on "Innovations and Infrastructure Development for Sustainable Projects," bringing together industry leaders, professionals, government officials, and stakeholders. It aims to provide a pivotal platform for sharing insights, exploring innovations and addressing challenges in advancing sustainable infrastructure development across the African continent.

The United Republic of Tanzania

Located in Eastern Africa, bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the North, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the West and Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique to the South. The country’s eastern border lies in the Indian Ocean which has a coastline of 1,424 km.

Zanzibar

Zanzibar is a part of the United Republic of Tanzania and consists of two main islands of Unguja and Pemba and a number of small islands. Tanzania has a total area is 945,087 sq.km including 61,000 sq. km of inland water. Tanzania is rich and diverse natural and cultural heritage.

The capital of Tanzania

Capital of Tanzania is Dodoma, which is located 309 km west of Dar es Salaam. Dar es Salaam is the country's commercial capital and is also the major seaport for the county’s serving its landlocked neighbours. Other urban centres include Arusha, Moshi, Tanga, Mwanza, Morogoro, Mbeya, Iringa, Tabora, Kigoma and Zanzibar.

Culture

Tanzania, known for its cultural diversity, hosts over 120 local languages alongside Swahili and English. With a predominantly native African population, it also embraces Asian, European, and Arab influences, shaping its rich heritage. As one of Africa's swiftly growing economies, Tanzania relies heavily on agriculture and boasts a promising average real GDP growth rate of 6.3% over the last decade.
